Setup Instructions for Outlook and Outlook Express
Outlook Express
- Open up Outlook Express.
- Click the 'Tools' Menu, and choose 'Accounts'.
- Click the button that says 'Add'. Choose 'Mail' from the options.
- It will ask for a display name. Enter your name. Click 'Next' when
finished.
- When asked for your email address, enter it, and click 'Next'.
- The following screen should be:
My incoming mail server is a POP3 server.
Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server: mail.yourdomainname**.com
An SMTP server is the server that is used for your outgoing e-mail.
Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: mail.yourdomainname**.com
**Replace this with your email address domain. For example, your email address is Judy@linkiowa.com, your mail servers are mail.linkiowa.com. Similarly for Judy@pcsis.net, your mail servers are mail.pcsis.net.
- When asked for your Account name and password, enter your full
email address as your account name, and then your password.
The box labeled 'Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) should not be checked.
- Click 'Finish' when you are done.
- There is ONE more step. Please click the 'Tools' Menu again.
Choose 'Accounts'.
- Under the tab labeled 'Mail', please double-click the account we just
created. This will open up the Properties window.
- In this window, choose the tab that is labeled 'Servers'. At the bottom,
there will be a checkbox labeled 'My server requires authentication'.
Please make sure this is checked. If this is not checked, you
will not be able to send outgoing email.
- Once clicked, please click 'OK', and close out of all windows. Outlook
Express is setup!
Microsoft Outlook
- Open up Microsoft Outlook. Choose the 'Tools' Menu, and from there,
'Email Accounts'.
- Click 'Add a new e-mail account', and click 'Next'.
- Please choose your server type to be POP3 and click 'Next'
- The next screen will have a lot of information. The following is what
you will need:
- Your Name
- Email Address
- Username: your full email address
- Password
- Log on using SPA: NO
- Incoming mail server: mail.yourdomainname***.com
- Outgoing mail server: mail.yourdomainname***.com
- Please click the button 'More Settings'
There will be a section labeled 'Outgoing Server'.
Under that section, there is a checkbox labeled 'My server requires authentication'.
Make sure that box is checked.
Click 'OK' to return to the previous screen.
- Once that information is entered, click 'Test Account Settings'. If
everything is fine, click 'Next' and then 'Finish'.
- Your Outlook is setup!
- ***replace yourdomainname with your email address domain. If your
address is @linkiowa.com, your mail servers will be mail.linkiowa.com,
