Setting up your DSL connection
- There are two methods for setting up your DSL. The first is to use
the CDROM that ships with your DSL modem. The second is to set it up
manually through the web interface. More advanced users will prefer
the web interface, than the CDROM.
- To use the CDROM, put the CDROM in your CD drive. The install program
should open up automatically on your computer.
- Follow the instructions on the CDROM. When you get to the section
regarding Internet Service Provider, you can continue with the following
steps.
- You are using a non-MSN service provider.
- We connect using the PPPoA protocol.
- It will ask you for your PPP username and password. We do require
these, and you can obtain them over the phone with a Com-Link employee.
- When asked, we use Dynamic IP addressing.
- That should finish your quick setup of your DSL modem. If you run
into any problems, please call our office.
- To use the web interface to setup up the modem, connect the modem
to your computer with an ethernet cable.
- DHCP should already be setup, and the modem will hand you an IP address.
- Type the default gateway of 192.168.1.1 into a web browser.
- The default logins are Administrator and admin, respectively for username
and password.
- If you are familiar with DSL modem setup, we use PPPoA with username
and passwords, and dynamic IP addressing.
