Dialup Setup

To setup dialup on Windows XP:
- Click the Start Menu, and find the option for 'Control Panel'. Click
it to open.
- In the Control Panel, click 'Internet Options'.
- This window will have tabs across the top. Choose 'Connections'.
- A button on the upper right will say 'Setup'. Click this button.
- You should see a window like this:

- Click Next.
- Choose this option:

- Next:

- Next: Enter your ISP's name. We are Com-Link.
- You will need to enter 362-1000 for the phone number to dial.
- It may ask you for your username and password. Enter it as you received
it from Com-Link.
- This should finish your dialup setup.
To Setup dialup connection with Windows98:
- Open 'My Computer'.
- Open up the folder 'Dialup Networking'.
- Choose 'Make new connection'.
- The phone number to dial is 362-1000.
- You should be able to click next for each screen. Click 'Finish' when
done.
- This will create an icon in your Dialup Networking folder. You may
drag this to the desktop if you wish.
- You will need to double-click that connection to enter your username
and password. To save these settings, click the checkbox to save, and
you must successfully connect.
- To setup your Internet Explorer and Outlook Express to dial automatically,
go to the control panel, and follow the same instructions as below.
Setup dialup with Mac OSX:
- Close all programs currently running
- Click the Apple Menu in the upper left corner of the screen
- Move down and click on System Preferences

- Next, the system preferences window will appear
- Click on the Network Icon, which will open up the Network Settings
window.
- Make sure the TCP/IP tab is highlighted
- There is a drop down menu labeled Show:. Make sure
this is set to Internal Modem.
- On the Configure: drop down menu, choose Using
PPP
- Make sure the DNS Servers and Search Domains boxes are empty. If they
aren't click in each box and delete the information.
- Next, select the tab labeled PPP, as show below:

- In the Service Provider box type Com-Link
- Type in your username and password as given to you by Com-Link
- Enter Com-Link's dialup telephone number, 362-1000.
- Select Save Password, if you wish to save it.
- Make sure there is no information under the Proxies
tab.
- Click the Apply Now button and close all windows.
Setup dialup with Mac OS 8/9:
- First step is to locate the Internet Setup Assistant.
- If you already have located the ISA, please continue with the
next step.
- First Method: Browse for the Internet Setup Assistant
Double-click the Macintosh Hard Drive Icon on your desktop.
Find the Internet or Assistants folder, and double-click to open.
Find the Internet Setup Assistant icon and double-click to being setup.
- Second Method: Search
Click on your desktop to exit any programs you may have open.
Choose File and click Find from the menu.
Enter 'Internet Setup', like you see below:

If the search finds the Internet Setup Assistant, double-click to start.
- If you already have located the ISA, please continue with the
next step.
- The screen will ask if you want to setup your computer to use the
internet. Choose Yes.
- When asked if you already have an internet account, Choose Yes.
- The introduction window will be shown. Click the right arrow.
- When asked to name the configuration, type 'Com-Link'. It will also
ask how you will be connecting to the Internet. Choose Modem. Click
the right arrow.
- When asked what modem you will be using, choose your default internal
modem from the list. If you have questions, please call us. The port
the modem is connected to should be already set to the correct port.
The phone line should be set to use a Tone. Leave the checkbox
to ignore dial-tone blank. Click the right arrow to continue.
- When asked for the phone number for the configuration: 362-1000. This
same window will also ask for your username and password. Enter your
username and password as given to you by Com-Link. Click the right arrow
to continue.
- Select 'No' when asked for a PPP Connect script. Click the right arrow
to continue.
- There is NO ip address for this configuration. Click the right arrow
to continue.
- In the Domain Servers Window, you will clear out all information.
This information will be given to you automatically. Click the right
arrow to continue.
- For E-mail address and password, enter them as they were given to
you by Com-Link.
- Email Account and Host Computer. Enter your email address in the first
box. For the second, enter the outgoing mail server as given to you
by Com-Link. This is normally in the mail.youremaildomain**.com
- Click the right arrow to continue.
- NewsGroup server: you can leave this blank unless you wish to use
NewsGroups. Contact us if you'd like newsgroups.
- In the Proxies window, choose 'No'. Click the right arrow to continue.
- Conclusion window: Click Go Ahead to finish.
- You are setup. To connect, click the apple menu, and choose Control
Panels. From the list, choose Remote Access Control Panel.
